Tips for AMAZING Senior Pics!

Kreative Expressions Photography offers timeless Senior photos that capture your personality, talents and style!  Each Senior session is unique and original!  A Fashion Flair that is often imitated, but never duplicated!

We want YOUR Senior session to be as amazing as you are!  So, we have compiled a list of "Tips" to help you be prepared for your shoot!

1.  CLOTHING:  PLAN SEVERAL OUTFITS TO BRING!

You should plan to bring several outfits to your photo session in a variety of colors, not just your favorite hue.  We suggest that you include different styles, such as casual, semi-formal, formal or sports related, so you have a nice variety of poses to choose from.  Solid colors are recommended for most or all outfits. Colors that go well with a medium or dark background for close-ups include medium or dark tones of green, brown, rust, wine or blue.  Darker shades tend to make people look slimmer. Try not to wear flesh-tone or neutral colors such as white, beige, tan, pale peach or pink, or gray, as these can dominate the picture and make you look washed out.

For outside pictures, we recommend spring and summer colors of sky blue, pale green, watermelon and dark peach to complement the outdoor setting. For fall, consider wearing red, gold, deep orange, emerald green and dark green.

Make sure that all clothing is neatly pressed and free of stains or tears!

Remember to bring accessories and props for all outfits, from footwear to jewelry and hair accents.  If you play sports, bring your favorite equipment with you!

2.  HAIR:  Simple hairstyles are best!
Keeping your hair relatively simple for your senior portraits is a good idea. As these pictures are the reflection of yourself that will be passed onto friends and relatives in your graduation invitations, it is important that they represent the real you.

Guys - Get a haircut about a week before your session to allow time for the style to grow out a little, covering any tan lines that you may have.   Don't forget to shave and trim any facial hair.  You want a smooth, clean look in your pics!

Ladies -  If you normally wear your hair down, then style it that way.  Before your session, you should shampoo and condition (deep condition if need be). After you have dried your hair be sure to smooth away any frizz with your favorite product. Top it off with a bit of hair spray, and you're all set.
However, we know for some girls, styling is a must. If it is, then keep it basic. Use a curling iron to create some loose waves or break out the flat iron and have a super sleek do.  Bring hairspray and brush with you to the shoot!!!

3.  MAKE-UP:  Important!!!
We would recommend going with a good foundation topped with a bronzing powder versus blush. If you have any skin imperfections (such as acne or a scar), use a quality concealer to disguise them as best as possible. We do offer flawless retouching to remove blemishes,  however, covering them up yourself leads to a better picture and prevents the lack of definition that comes with too much airbrushing in the studio.

Eye make-up is recommended to help bring out your eyes in the photos.  It is best to utilize neutral shades that will work with both your traditional portraits and casual clothing. Eyeliner and mascara are definite musts for the make-up confident as they will help draw attention to your eyes in every shot!
For your lips use a subtle color only a few shades darker than your natural lip color. A slight glossy sheen will enhance your photograph well while not providing a distraction from the overall picture. If you are an expert at utilizing darker lipsticks, then don't be bashful about applying one for your last portrait set up or two, but be careful to keep it elegant, not clown-like.

4.  SKIN AND HANDS:  Clean and well maintained!
We tend to use hands in some of our poses, so please make sure that your hands and nails are trimmed and presentable!  Ladies - we recommend going with a french manicure instead of nail color!  Applying lotion to all exposed skin, will give a softer look!
